East Kent Mencap artist in residence at Herne Bay Hub 2023 ongoing. Through Weave and Read we are working with the Margate Bookie to give people from East Kent Mencap the confidence to talk about literature.
Elspeth says; “the project aims to share our love of literature and to show how taking time can make this an inclusive activity.”
Elspeth is working on a 3 meter loom at East Kent Mencap in Herne Bay Kent a project inspired by Danto’s “Weaving as Metaphor and Model for Political Thought”:
“Weaving can be disarrayed, have holes and gaps in between, and yet can ultimately produce strength.”
From the essay by Arthur C. Danto, where he presents Plato’s understanding of weaving as a metaphor for the state, with each weave as the individual and the whole fabric being the union.
